Where do I install the Grey Water Gator?

Install the Gator near a power outlet and on a level surface and within reach of the washing machine. Install it near a drain point if possible.

What if the hose doesn't reach?

If the 25mm black connection hose is not long enough, longer hoses are available. It will depend on your washing machine as to how far it will pump. This hose can be shortened to neaten the installation and to prevent siphoning.

As a guide 10metres would be a maximum distance.

What if I want to disconnect the hose?

A quick disconnect kit is also available from your retailer.

Where does the pump go?

Make sure the pump is located on the location pegs in the bottom of the bin and that the float is free to move.

How much water does the unit put out?

The pump will provide 15 litres a minute with the 20mm x 20 metre hose provided.

How far can I pump with a Grew Water Gator?

The maximum recommended length is 50 metres.

If you need extra hose length you can add another 20mm x 20 metre hose.

What is the flow rate from the longer hose?

You should get 10 litres a minute out of 40 metres of Gator hose.

Can I run pop up sprinklers?

The pump in the Grey Water Gator is NOT designed to run pop up sprinklers. Special high pressure pumps are available on request.

What sort of drip tube will the Grey Water Gator run?

The pump will run up to 100 metres of drip tube, depending on site conditions and the drip tube used. The Gator drip tube is especially designed for recycled water.

Do I need extra filtration to run drippers?

We recommend you use a 25mm x 120 mesh filter on the outlet before connecting to drippers.

How often do I need to clean the lint filter?

This will depend on the work load but inspect it at least weekly and clean if needed.

Do I clean the filter sock?

The filter sock is designed to be replaceable but can also be easily cleaned.

Can I run my car wash from a Gator?

You can connect the unit to a pressure wash. It is recommended that you use a Gator 25mm outlet filter to filter out and lint that might have made its way through the system. (Same as running drippers)
Also using the rinse water from your washing machine is recommended as the detergent water may be too harsh for the finish on your car.

Can I run the pump with the hose shut off say when I am using the nozzle on and off?

Yes the pump can run for short lengths of time with no water discharging.
However it is advisable to turn off the power switch if you aren’t running water through the unit.

What is the best detergent to use?

You must use a low phosphorus and low sodium detergent.
We use and recommend Garden Safe Laundry Powder.
